EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) is the standard encapsulant material used to bond solar cells between the front glass and back sheet. High-quality EVA is essential for long-term module reliability — poor EVA causes delamination, PID degradation, and moisture ingress. Premium alternatives: POE (polyolefin elastomer) for higher reliability in humid climates, used in most TOPCon and HJT modules. EVA cost is 3-5% of module price.
