HJT (Heterojunction) combines crystalline silicon wafers with amorphous silicon layers on both sides, achieving cell efficiencies of 25-26%+ and some of the best performance-per-degree ratios in the industry (temperature coefficient -0.24 to -0.26%/°C). Major producers include Risen Energy, Huasun Energy, and Meyer Burger. HJT modules command a $0.020-0.025/W premium over TOPCon (as of Q1 2026), down from $0.035-0.040/W in 2024. Best use cases: hot climates, high-yield utility projects, premium residential. Limitations: higher silver paste consumption (cost pressure), more complex manufacturing.
