TÜV (Technischer Überwachungsverein) is a constellation of German technical inspection organizations — TÜV Rheinland, TÜV SÜD, TÜV Nord — that test and certify solar modules to IEC 61215, IEC 61730, and additional stress protocols (IEC 61701 salt mist, IEC 62716 ammonia, PID resistance). TÜV certification carries premium market value. Many banks and insurers require TÜV-tested modules for project finance. Look specifically for "TÜV Rheinland Certified" or "TÜV SÜD Certified" with a specific certificate number.
