BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification is mandatory for all solar modules sold in India, covering IEC 61215, IEC 61730, IEC 61701 (salt mist), and IEC 62716 (ammonia). ALMM (Approved List of Models and Manufacturers) is an additional list required for government and utility-scale solar projects under India's renewable energy schemes. Private commercial and residential projects only need BIS. BIS certification takes 8-12 weeks; ALMM listing requires BIS first, then additional audits.
